NASWFAMILYHISTORY NEWSLETTER FOR 9-11-2018

NASW NEWSLETTER FOR September 11, 2018 by TedKarenMeyer

MULTIPLE WIVES...LOTS OF CHILDREN?

Are you trying to figure out what Mother goes with which child?  Only, the census data and the tree show all of them as "children" of the last wife or 2nd wife?  It might not be super exact, but it gives you the likelihood of which wife went with which child - perhaps a better picture than you had before

Try this Research tool:  GENEALOGY TEST FOR DATES

In the same file is a powerpoint that you can start and stop and take notes - It looks like it is just for consultants - but honestly, we are using the same deck to train members.

Also - there is a .pdf on How do I begin?  That might be helpful.  At any rate, please let us know what you liked and if you see a way we can improve it for others, please write to us at naswfamilyhistory@gmail.com

You can always try the new page at family search.  It's for everyone, not just consultants.

Remembering 9/11 - Using Family History to help the descendants

Remembering 9/11/2001
How Family History can help the descendants of the victims

The Library of Congress now has an exhibit for Remembering 9/11

I think that is wonderful, except as ANY memorabilia of that horrible event in our lives, it does tell a lot of horrific aspects.  What the descendants need now, is some solid stories and POSITIVE remembrances of their parents or Grandparents lost in the attack.  The best way to honor them is to write a book of their life story.  You can upload it to Kindle Direct Publishing and every member of the family can buy their own copy of the book - but the story will be in a central location.

Think about it.  I published 9 LDS Adventure/Spy/Romance novels on Create Space and Kindle which are combining forces in the publishing field and now my children will each have 9 novels that their mother wrote.  Can you imagine a better gift for a descendant of a victim than a book with an amazing cover - glossy - about the live of their Father, Mother, Grandmother or Grandfather?  The ones with pictures do cost more to buy, but maybe it is what we need.  Something positive that says, I was here, and I mattered.....think about it.  Let me know your thoughts.

When the news about Family History is flying out as fast as it is, sometimes I feel like I need to...
