Have you saved the date? Save April 27, 2024 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

This past year, we had a lot going on.  We were released as Area Advisers after seven years and gladly would have done it 10 more.  Karen survived 6 surgeries on her hip, I survived two cruises with her :) - one to Alaska and the other to the Caribbean.  It was difficult with her walker, but she was a trooper.  A surgeon sewed her leg on crooked, gave her a spiral fracture of the femur, repaired it and sewed it on crooked again. She was in a wheel chair for 5 months, one used too much cement fixing the ensuing spiral fracture of her femur and it wouldn’t heal, then a physical therapist lifted her leg to high and broke off her greater trochanter.  She had six transfusions, a couple of quick visits to the hereafter for more instruction and through all of this adversity, she actually kept smiling and knowing Heavenly Father would heal her. Thank heavens she is still with us.  While on one cruise, we got word that we lost her 99 year old mother after a long battle with macular degeneration.  We were going to leave the cruise early but her brother told us to stay.  When we did finally leave, we got home and thought we should take a Covid test.  It was not the  best week of our lives but Heavenly Father healed us and we started working on our Stake Family History and Genealogy Fair.

We were wrong!

We’re excited to be a part of another Family History Fair for you and your friends to learn more about your ancestors. If you happen to be near Scottsdale, AZ this weekend, April 27, 2024 we would love to see you at our free community event.

We recently told you that Genealogy was the third most popular hobby in the world. We were wrong. Actually, it’s more exciting than that!

Did you know that Genealogy is the second most popular hobby in the world?  Familysearch.org will give a free access to build a  as it has 13.9 million users, there’s always room for a few more!   They get 7 million page views daily.

This ticket can be given via text and email and a whole family can gain entry to a new world of discovery.

Help them by sending them a VIP ticket and they can show their phone at the door.

At Grandma’s Cookies table we will be collecting names and emails to send out an ebook of recipes. Ward members please bring a plate of cookies of a favorite family recipe (Bring on a card or paper). If you want to include a cute quote or anecdote from that person it will be in the book as well. Bring cookies, bring or  email the recipe to the event and we will create an extraordinarily creative cookie-cookbook !

It has been exciting to touch so many lives with these fairs. The Mission Presidents love it and we give the Missionaries 200 VIP FREE tickets to give out. We also encourage them to bring people being taught to the Stake Center during the week so that we can help them find names.

It is true - what Elder David A. Bednar asked us to do in 2020 we have been encouraging others to do the same. He said “Every new member should be prepared to go to the Temple within 60 days of baptism with their own names.” We have truly seen miracles happen when they are prepared. They stay active for a whole year going to the Temple with the names we found before baptism. The consultant becomes their best friend in the ward and goes with them. If you would like to know more, please email us and ask about the Sample Stake Family History Plan we did.

20 Ways to Gather Israel - Family History Game Board Plan just for you!

20 Ways to Gather Israel
20 Ways to Gather Israel

A Board Game plan for Family History

Ted and Karen Meyer, Area Temple and Family History Consultants
Naawfamilyhistory.blogspot.com
Facebook.com/naswfamilyhistory
If you use our game, please send pictures of the fun you are having for our blog.  Our email is:  naswfamilyhistory@gmail.com

This is an uber-check list of things you can do all wrapped into a game.  We've already been playing it and it appeals to all ages!

Here are some pictures!

Each player has their own tally board.  Every time they land on a picture, or are sent to a picture from a card, they get to put a bean, m&m, or penny on their own playing board - somewhat like bingo.

The rules are pretty easy - the 0 lets you jump across and change direction and you can't count a picture unless you actually land on it so you might circle with spins to go around it and try to land on it again, but you can not go back unless it tells you to.  The first one that makes it to "heaven" with all of the pictures tagged with pennies, wins.

Interested?
Here are more pictures!
In my PDF I included all the print and cut links so that if you have a Cricut machine, it will do most of the work for you.

If you choose to have an awesome evening and play this game, please send us pictures and tell us what your favorite part was.

For lagers, I use family history tree charms and put different colored ribbons on them.

Reporting Family History as Honest and Factual, not Scandalous and Embarrassing

We have an email newsletter and the one below, both of which are informative but usually have different references and topics.  We hope you will sign up for our Email and our Youtube channel subscription and we will keep you up to date with the latest from Salt Lake.   SEE THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE FOR OUR LINK INFO

In our newsletter this month, we cover a lot of ground.  From 1890 census data lost to help for Consultants and a special article about a Stake which is truly capturing the Spirit of Elijah in Family History Work.  Their consultants, Sr.  Karla Houston, and Sr. Marianne Mckay-cox came to the Camelback Stake Center on a Mission from their Bishop to work on a plan for their Ward!  It was truly a lovely experience for us.  We love it when Consultants are proactive in searching for the Spirit of Elijah

This is a great article - I hope you enjoy it!  Our Grandpa used to say, when we would visit, "Find any horse thieves in the bunch?"  I am trying to teach consultants to have this attitude - to report the good and the bad without judgment or emotion.  It's just a fact; choices which were made, no judgment on our part.  Perhaps if we were more open in years past about our family's choices, our younger generations would have a more discerning eye towards choice and accountability.  Learning from our ancestors is one reason why Spencer W. Kimball, about journal keeping, "DO IT!" - Thank you for this article.  I'd like to add your reference to our Area newsletter.

Our Newsletter from Roots Tech Experiences

We are Back! Over the next few months we will be rolling out our notes on our youtube.com site but we encourage you to visit the actual Rootstech site and glean the knowledge directly from there if you can't wait.  A special thank you to thefhguide.com for asking us to be their Ambassadors at their booth during RootsTech - it was fun to meet people and show them the new Companion to Come follow Me - featured in our newsletter.   Also, lds.org is now churchofjesuschrist.org - please change it in your bookmarks. 2019 - FEB-MAR NASW NEWSLETTER by TedKarenMeyer This newsletter will be sent by pdf through email if you are on our list.  As a pdf, you can click on the reactive links.  The newsletter above, for some reason (hint hint to Canva.com) does not allow you to click on the links when embedded into HTML.

Lots of innovation always at Roots Tech -though we cannot endorse any one company, this one was a giggle because of the dinosaur.  They take your DNA results and create media that you can show others.  They will also do novelty ones as well - 30% awesome, 20% human, etc.,

This was a cute cut out - photo op to celebrate the new Roots Tech events in England this year!

My dnapie.com was fun to meet and discuss what they had to offer you.

Roots Tech - Innovators!

The keynote speaker was Actress was Patricia Heaton who enjoyed taking time out to raise her four children but was most appreciative of her husband who gave up his career to truly help out a home.

Fun seeing the Roots Finder mascot this year!

We are always at the Camelback Stake Center on Thursday nights - call us and let us know what you are interested in learning so we can be prepared to help you.  480 262 3525
