What is
Inis Bó Finne (Inishbofin Island)
?
Last week I met a cousin online that I had never met. He was inspired to contact me because he noticed we had the same relatives and that a portion of my tree had come to an abrupt end. He had the answer. I had been searching for information for 40 years. How did he know? He took a DNA test. I took a DNA test.
His opening remarks was that he was a Genealogist from the UK and had traced our Haplo Group to a little island 11 mi off the coast of Galway Bay.
Wow! I was blown away. I had been searching all these years for records from Galway, but not this tiny island...
I was able to add 3 generations to that line and our data matched up regarding my 4GGfather and his 4GGmother being siblings.
So now, the big reveal. Here is the island.
