DO YOU KNOW WHAT IS NEEDED TO RUN A FHC SUCCESSFULLY?
Recently, in preparation for opening up our Family History Center after the long COVID break, we were made aware of a great many shortcomings which needed to be fixed.
Did you know or were you previously aware that:
1. The computers in your Family History Center do not belong to your Stake?
2. They are maintained by your Stake Staff, yet must comply with specific technicalities, from permissions to admin logins and passwords.
3. You are not supposed to change any of the settings to make it more comfortable for you to come to the center. All the settings are mandated by the Director's directions from SLC.
4. Why can't you store your pictures and family history files on the Library computer. That is why God made USB files or thumb drives. You can take your files anywhere you want to go! But please do not save them on the desktops at the center.
5. We know that sometimes you forget your login and password and need to use your email on the desktop - that is fine - please do not store your password there for the next time you forget. It is helpful to carry a notebook with you when you come. So many times, hours are lost of precious time between the Stake Consultant and the visitor because they don't have logins and passwords they need.
